Beginnings

After reading Adesola’s blog I have been reflecting on my professional/personal beginnings. My official beginning in teaching began fresh out of college in 2006 aged 20. I was asked to come along and teach the teacher's of a local dance school  ISTD Advanced 2 Tap. My energetic beginning came with the pressure of teaching older and more experienced teachers. It gave me a sense of achievement when the exam results saying 'Merit' on them came through the letterbox. This led to me becoming more involved with the school. My hours were increased and I started to choreograph and participate in their bi annual shows. Then came the effective beginning. 'All good things must come to an end'. The principal who had ran the school sold up. This led to many changes within the school and in turn led me to shift into my next official beginning........ The start of 'Tap to Toe Academy of Dance'  www.taptotoe.co.uk owned and run by myself since 2013. As previously...

For anyone interested. Looks like a great workshop to gain knowledge and enhance skills on working with disabled students.

First Blog! Through my research I am hoping to discover how us as teachers can change our ways of teaching to help others with disabilities in particular invisible disabilities. We may all struggle at a time in our lives, can we pursue our dreams whilst being ill especially in the dance industry a physical and demanding job. Can we encourage others whilst maintaining encouragement and positivity ourselves? Here's me on my 4/5 hour infusion for my Crohn's disease. Teaching for 4/5 hours tonight too whilst trying to master being a master. Jade x
